This post is a letter of my 18months old son on fathers day.. I have just given a outline to the relationship shared by the duo
You are the one who cuddled me when i was an infant
You are the one who spends sleepless nights just to make me sleep at peace
You are the one who takes me for rounds after coming back home tired from the office
You are the one who takes me to the park just to see that smile on my face
You are the one who hides me behind your back when mom scolds me
You are the one who takes me to the temple every tuesday when you know I love going to the temples
You are the one who secretly gives me cold water when denied by mom
You are the one to wrap me up in your arms every night and make me listen to hot bollywood numbers
You are the one who takes me out for icecreams every night
You are the one to scold mom if she scolds me, hits me or is irresponsible towards me
You are the one who tolerates all the havoc created by me during my bathing time
You are the one to celebrate my fake birthdays when I just wish to cut a piece of cake.
You are the one who calms mom when she yells at me for all the mess created
You are the one who allows me to play water games and have my happy times
You are my “SUPERHERO” papa.
“Those who say they don’t believe in superheroes, i must say they haven’t met u papa.” Day by day I am growing in inches but i will forever remain your little one and run into your arms and say Akash hi5 lets chill!! I know my fingers are small but still i can wrap you in my arms, hold you tight and wish you a very happy fathers day!!
Miss you sooo much papa, so wanted to be there with you on this special day.

Being a mother of the hyperactive 19months oldboy it becomes very important for me to take good care of his nutritional needs. As the baby crosses the first year mark, they can eat everything that an adult eats except chillies, deep fried and junk food.
Toddlers are erratic eaters so being a mom my job is to make simple yet interesting food for my little one(interesting presentation wise as well as nutritional needs wise). I am going to share two recipes which my little one finds interesting and gives me a mum5(hi5 with mom) after having it.
FRESH CREME SEMOLINE PANCAKE/ SOOJI CHILLA (with a twist)
- Grated carrot
- Boiled potato
- Fresh creme
- Turmeric powder
- Milk to form a paste
Mix all the above ingredients to make a smooth batter and rest it aside for 5-10minutes, the consistency of the batter should not be thick nor very flowy. Heat the pan, put some ghee and spread it well, let it turn golden brown from both the sides and here the yummy, tasty and healthy semolina pancake is ready.
Any vegetable of your choice can be added like grated bottle guard, grated beetroot etc can be added. Milk, boiled potato and creme are added to make the pancakes soft and easy to chew for the kids.turmeric is added owing to its health benefits(just a tinch).
If preparing for adults add a tinch of pepper,chopped onions, green chillies and top it with corriander leaves.
BEETROOT TIKKIS/ FRITTERS
Beetroot being rich in iron, calcium, magnsium, vitamin A,C,K,Bcomplex is highly recommended for children
- Grated beetroot
- Boiled potatoes
- Very finely chopped beans
- Grated carrot
- Tinch of turmeric powder
- Semolina/bread crumbs
Mix all the above ingredients except semolina and milk and make round tikkis. Dip the tikkis in milk and coat them in semolina and shallow fry them on a pan greased with ghee. A tinch of turmeric powder is added owing to its health benefits.
Beetroot and boiled potatoes are a must to make the above and rest you can add any veggies of your child’s choice. Basically I try to put all the green veggies which a child would not eat otherwise.
If preparing for adults add finely chopped onions, green chillies, grated ginger and you can deep fry them in oil. It tastes good when served with crispy bread toast, mint chutney and ketchup.
Basically the above recipes are made out of readily available ingredients at home and are quick and easy to make.
